Bouncin' right along...

Kinsley turned 5 months on the 13th. For a little one who had trouble getting started, she is growing like a weed now. It's crazy, wonderful, and sad all at the same time. I can't even put into words how much I love her and how much fun we have together. She has become my best buddy. We are together constantly and it turns out, a very good listener. :)
We are, literally, counting down the days until Louie's rotation is over. Yesterday, he worked a 17 hour day. He is exhausted and misses us terribly, but his interactions with his consultant continue to go well... so that is a definite plus.
Above is Kinsley's 5 month picture. I also included a "Watch Me Grow" slide show to document her growth. :)

At 5 Months Kinsley:
-eats about 6 ounces at each feeding
-occasionally tries rice cereal
-turns to look at you when you call to her
-loves doing sit-ups (see video below)
-has learned to spit, especially when she is pissed off
-likes to go to sleep between 7 & 8 and sleep til about 7 in the morning. Wohoo!
-sometimes sleeps in her swing and sometimes in her crib
-arches her back and straightens out her body when she is super tired but fighting it
-loves her exersaucer, bouncer, and watching the movie "Cars" and "Baby Einstein" occasionally
-has yet to turn over, but think she will turn from her back to tummy first
-when on her tummy, lifts her head up but immediately moves her arms by her side and does "the seal"
-is very ticklish
-loves to play with her tongue and the spit in her mouth. Yummm.
-is most needy in the evening when I am trying to cook dinner
-can squeal VERY loudly

Oh the weather outside is frightful...

Spring can't come soon enough, but we are doing our best to keep warm. We went to a hockey game Saturday night and Kinsley was bundled up and totally enthralled. She kept watching the players go back and forth on the ice. It was pretty cute. Here are a couple of snapshots. She is sportin' her new coat from Uncle Bub and Aunt Sarah and her MN baby hat from Mimi. :)

Below is a video taken during the A&M vs. TU game. Nothing too exciting just cheering on our team. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for the Aggies. Oh well.

No children or dogs were hurt during the making of this video. :)

Tonight we tried rice cereal for the first time. It was pretty exciting. Please forgive my outfit. It's pretty cold in our house so I had thrown on a hat and sweatshirt, none of which go together.

The Holidays

It's New Year's Day - sunny, white and beautiful outside but, "a look but don't touch" kind of day. The temp is 1 degree and the windchill is around -20. Kinsley is wearing 3 layers of clothes, 2 blankets and a hat as she sleeps snuggly but not so soundly in her pac-n-play downstairs. The hubby is at work, yet again, even though he promised he would be home with us in between AM and PM rounds. One for the "cons" side of being married to a doctor - scratch that - resident. I have a full on cold as I sit typing nearly as bundled up as Kinsley and I got about 4 hours of sleep last night because our little one wanted to bring in the new year with a bang. Despite the negatives of this day, I sit here feeling truly blessed to have had such a wonderful past year: a healthy, beautiful baby girl, amazing friends who are like family to me in this home away from home, many visits from family to welcome Kinsley to the world and in return, many trips to Texas to introduce her to so many family and friends who love her so, a loving husband, and two quirky dogs with their own personalities and demands. I know there's many more.

I heard this morning on the Today show that if you want to really follow through with your New Year's resolutions you should write it down and share it with others. So here goes, my 2010 resolution is to try to focus on the positives in my life.

If you know me, then you also know I'm a "why me" kind-of person, or at least I think I am and my husband is a "glass half empty" kind-of guy, so it takes a considerable amount of effort to make the switch from "life's tough" to "I am so blessed." Please help to hold me accountable.
